Responsibility of All
Literacy, Numeracy, Health and Wellbeing and Skills Development
It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that pupils are developing skills in literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing, as well as developing skills for learning, life and work.
The following statements have been taken from the Education Scotland website.
Literacy: All practitioners are in a position to make important contributions to developing and reinforcing young people’s literacy skills.
Numeracy: All teachers have responsibility for promoting the development of numeracy. With an increased emphasis upon numeracy for all young people, teachers will need to plan to revisit and consolidate numeracy skills throughout schooling.
Health and Wellbeing: All practitioners are in a position to make important contributions to developing and reinforcing young people’s literacy skills.
Skills: All children and young people are entitled to opportunities to develop skills across the curriculum wherever and whenever they are learning. These skills are relevant from early years right through to the senior phase of learning and beyond, and into lifelong learning. All educators should therefore contribute to the development of these skills.

Recognising Achievement
The files in this section will give you an insight to our pupil reward system. Parents and staff are able to recognise achievement and reward pupils for their Curricular Achievements, Cross curricular Achievements, School Ethos and Personal Achievements. We also seek the support of parents in encouraging pupils to update their My MerIT profile regularly.
